22nd March 2019, 4-day coach tour of the WW1 battlefields


Menin Gate Names
We visit the Ploegsteert Memorial to the Missing and the crypt of Messines church, used as a dressing station during the War.

We look at the reconstructed German trenches at Croonaert Wood and visit the famous Hooge Crater Museum. We visit the Worcestershire Regiment Memorial and the Passchendaele Museum, which keeps the memory alive of the 500,000 causalities of Passchendaele through images and films.

We look at Tyne Cot British and Commonwealth Cemetery and Memorial and attend the deeply moving ‘Last Post’ Ceremony under the Menin Gate, which bears the names of almost 55,000 men whose bodies were never found. We visit the battlefields of the Somme, the scene of one of the most significant battles of the War. We see the largest British Mine Crater at La Boiselle and visit the Pozières British Cemetery for Allied casualties of the 1918 Battles of the Somme.
