Sunday 24th June: at the Barbican, the LSO feature violinist  Nicola Benedetti playing Shostakovich Violin Concerto No. 1 and Symphony No. 10 conducted by Gianandrea Noseda. It should be a great concert. Cost £28 all inclusive and last date for booking Friday18th May.

Tuesday 18th September: Come to the Barbican – LSO conducted by Sir Simon Rattle: Dvorak - Slavonic Dances, Janacek - Sinfonietta and Britten - Spring Symphony. Cost £36 all-inclusive and last date for booking 15th August.

Tuesday 4th December: We have once again managed to get Front Arena seats for the RPO/Rutter Christmas Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, featuring the Temple Church Choir and the Purcell Singers. This year we have seats at the matinee performance which will cost £48 all inclusive. Last date for booking is 7th September BUT seats are likely to sell very quickly.

I have a limited number of tickets for this performance of ‘Brief Encounter’ which is a Kneehigh Production, with music adapted by Emma Rice and described by newspaper critics as a triumph: moving, funny, surprising and very inventive. There is also the possibility of a question and answer session with the cast after the performance, but this will not be confirmed until nearer the time.

Tickets will cost £49.50pp including coach and gratuities.  Pick up times: Bengeo: 11.30am Tesco Mill Road: 11.35am

Please Note: All seats in this small theatre are accessed by steps down from the theatre foyer.

Also: Whilst we have allowed what should be ample time for the journey into London, there can be no guarantee on how much time will be available for refreshments. It is not advisable therefore to make any advance restaurant reservations.

For those who would like to learn more about wine we are repeating the introductory wine course which was so successful two years ago. Commencing on Thursday 20th September it will be held on the third Thursday of each successive month. Each session will cost £5. The course will cover the variety of grapes (red, white, rose, sparkling), and wines from grape growing areas around the world. We will also cover such matters as understanding the label on the bottle, and the storage and serving of wine. Places are limited to 12, so if you are interested please book early by contacting:

Events Team: Christmas Markets of Brussels and Bruges

Highlights:

Guided coach tour of Brussels taking in the city’s main districts including the Grand Place, the Royal District and the Louise District.

An afternoon is at leisure in Brussels and you may choose to visit the Museum of Ancient Art, housing a vast collection of paintings, sculptures and drawings from the 15th to the 18th century.

Brussels Christmas Market. Over 250 chalets make up Brussels Christmas Market and the town’s illuminations really add to the festive atmosphere, as does the smell of chocolate, cinnamon and mulled wine.


Tickets are now available for the  2pm matinee on 6th September for this wonderful musical show at The London Palladium.

Events Team: The Art & Castles of Prague

Highlights:

Guided tour of the 13th century Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia, now home to the National Gallery’s collection of ‘Medieval Art in Bohemia and Central Europe.’

Prague Castle

Originally the residence of Bohemian kings and today the seat of the Czech president, the guided tour of Prague Castle Complex takes in some of Prague's best sites, including the Cathedral of St Vitus, St George's Basilica, the Powder Tower, the Old Royal Palace and the Golden Lane as well as wonderful views out over the Vltava River with the old town in the background.

We are unable to run the tour to Portsmouth , but have been offered Swansea as an alternative for the same dates.

We will be staying at The Marriott Hotel, Swansea. Itinerary to include ; Tewkesbury on the outward journey, visits to The Royal Mint, Aberdulais Falls (NT), Welsh National Botanic Gardens, a boat trip on the river Tawe, a ride on the Gwili Steam Railway and a half day free to explore the delights of Swansea.

We will call at Swindon on the way home with the option of the McArthur Glen shopping outlet or the Steam Museum ( admission not included )

The basic price remains at £435pp, Insurance £23.75 if required, Single Supplement £75. There will be a £5.20 charge for the Falls for non NT members.

Those already booked for Portsmouth will be automatically transferred to the new tour unless you wish to withdraw, in which case there will be a full refund of any moneys paid. There are additional places for anyone wishing to join us, but no single rooms available at the moment.
